Don't European banks have the ability to verify income/credit lines? I know she forged income statements that said she had 60millon euros, but wouldn't the European banks have been able to detect that fraud BEFORE wiring any money to the US?
I'm still wondering how she was able to have fake 6-7 figures wired to an American bank from a European bank. "Even if I did do it, everyone else does it, too!" that's her M.O She denies telling anyone she was an heiress. She doesn't believe that she deceived anyone. She doesn't even believe or own the title 'fraudster' despite being convicted for it. She only takes ownership for the things that make her look good.
She laughs and deflects her way through intimidating questions/energy. If you guys remember reading The Cut article that broke the story, the first thing that Neff (the concierge) took notice of was Anna greeting her with a $100 bill. The Rachel girl was living for Anna's pretend gravy train until it turned out to be a jalopy and the banks started coming for her instead. If she was grubby and miserly with her fake coins, then no one would've tried to get close to her or trusted to lend her anything. She has a devil-may-care attitude about everything, including her fake money during her scam days. Based on the interview, here is what I'm gathering for why Anna was able to deceive so many people:
